In the name of developing quality, seriousness and professionalism in business coaching worldwide, the IOBC is a registered association in Germany (e.V.). The IOBC sees itself as an umbrella organization for coaches and coaching providers in the field of business coaching.
Ordinary membership via cooperation
As a registered association with a legal association statute under German law we aim to bring together individuals from all areas of the coaching market (Four-Ring-Concept). On the one hand, our members work according to the standards of the IOBC and on the other hand, they are organized in national coaching associations. National Associations (NA) can offer their members ordinary memberships in the IOBC within the framework of a cooperation with the IOBC. We support the foundation of NAs with IOBC standards!
Direct membership
A direct membership is always preceded by an examination of your coaching expertise. With our high quality demands and understanding of quality and standards in business coaching, only certified coaches, coaching providers and experts receive an IOBC certification with a personal certificate and a valid IOBC Certification Number.
Against this background, certifications are possible with an IOBC cooperation or direct membership for the following interested groups:
National Associations – cooperating coaching associations in individual countries. Worldwide.
As an umbrella organisation, the aim of the IOBC is to unite coaching associations worldwide with a focus on business coaching and leadership. Nationally affiliated coaching associations cooperate with the IOBC as National Associations. Their members are ordinary members of the IOBC.
The aim of the cooperation with National Associations is to represent the highest quality standards for business coaching worldwide under the umbrella of the IOBC and to promote the development of business coaching.
National Associations are nationally registered coaching associations with at least 10 members. Existing or to be founded coaching associations in individual countries can offer their members ordinary memberships in the IOBC within the framework of a cooperation with the IOBC.

Personal certification through National Associations as an ordinary member. Worldwide.
As an umbrella organisation, the aim of the IOBC is to unite coaching associations worldwide with a focus on business coaching and leadership. We cooperate with National Associations - nationally affiliated coaching associations. National Associations already existing or to be founded can offer their members ordinary memberships in the IOBC within the framework of a cooperation with the IOBC - with a personal IOBC certificate.

Is there no National Association in your country yet or would you like to become a member of the IOBC directly as an independent, employed coach or coaching expert? There is the possibility of a personal membership as a direct member.

Internal Coach (IOBC) – Certification for coaches working within a company. Worldwide.
As an in-house coach you will accompany personnel and organisational development processes in your company. You have further training in coaching, coaching / professional / consulting experience and integrated organisational knowledge.
Certification as an Internal Coach (IOBC) is possible as an ordinary membership through a National Association or as a direct membership.
Organizational Coaching Expert (IOBC) – Certification for HR professionals, managers and coaching buyers. Worldwide.
As a human resources manager or manager, you are responsible for the implementation, purchasing and optimisation of the coaching service. Your personal certification as an Organizational Coaching Expert (IOBC) is only valid in relation to the company you work for. You are an expert in your company's coaching approaches and concepts and can discuss these with other members.
Certification as an Organizational Coaching Expert (IOBC) is available as an ordinary membership through a National Association or as direct membership.
Associate Researcher (IOBC) or Scientific Coaching Expert (IOBC) – Certification for scientists and researcher. Worldwide.
As a scientist in the field of coaching, you will give the market new impulses through current research results and further developments and create transparency in the coaching scene through studies. The promotion of research and science for the scientific foundation of the association's work is an important part of our work and encourage innovations, which also result in the training of coaches.
The following certifications as direct or ordinary member are possible:
- Associate Researcher (IOBC)
- Scientifical Coaching Expert (IOBC)
Educational Provider for Business Coaching (IOBC) – Certification for provider for coaching eduction & training with IOBC standards. Worldwide.
They represent the education and training side of the coaching market and therefore have a strong influence on the quality of future coaches and thus the development of professional coaching as a whole. The education & teaining programs certified by the IOBC show a diverse spectrum of further education offers, all of which impart coaching competencies according to the high standards of the IOBC for continuing education providers. This preserves the variety of offers on the coaching market and at the same time ensures comparably high quality standards. IOBC coaching further education courses are each represented by a Senior Coach (IOBC).
Graduates of an IOBC certified coaching training have the possibility to receive a certificate with IOBC logo and IOBC Certification Number. The IOBC membership status Associate Coach (IOBC) is also an exclusive status for graduates of an IOBC certified coaching education & training. Graduates benefit from simplified admission with reduced membership fees.
Institutional Provider of Business Coaching (IOBC) – Certification for professional coaching services. Worldwide.
Do you offer coaching services with your company or institute? Do you have your own pool of coaches, for example, or do you mediate matches between coaches and clients? With a certification as an Institutional Provider of Business Coaching (IOBC) you receive a seal of quality for your business, you can exchange ideas with colleagues at a high level and play a significant role in shaping the industry.
Certification as an Institutional Provider of Business Coaching (IOBC) is only possible for Senior Coaches (IOBC).
Strategic Cooperation Partner (IOBC) – Certified cooperation partner of IOBC. Worldwide.
Cooperation for joint work for the development of coaching as a profession is an essential part of the IOBC's work. Within the framework of a cooperation it is always in our interest to further develop the quality of business coaching. To this end, we are available as a cooperation partner with our members' diverse competencies and our standards as a seal of quality to serve your interests in the coaching industry.
As a cooperation partner with coaching expertise you will receive an IOBC certificate with the status of Strategic Cooperation Partner (IOBC).
